Inlays and Onlays
Dental inlays and onlays are used to restore a tooth that is too damaged for a filling, but not damaged enough to require a crown. Inlays are onlays are similar to crowns in that they are made of the same tooth colored porcelain material, but are more conservative of remaining tooth structure. Onlays and Inlays are a cosmetic option to maintain a beautiful white smile. There is a slight difference between an inlay verse an onlay. A dental Inlay fits inside the cusp tips of the tooth. An dental onlay extends over the cusps of the tooth. Inlays and onlays are custom made in the dental labs and then bonded into the tooth for a strong connection and an esthetic appearance.
